Although German news agency, dpa reported that Hanwha has submitted an offer to take the insolvent Q.Cells over, it has been difficult to verify the news. And while a spokesperson for the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Saxony-Anhalt told pv magazine that Germany would welcome the offer of such a large, international company, they declined to confirm that one has already been submitted.
Recently, the South Korean conglomerate made public its intentions to make a hefty offer for the German photovoltaic company. A spokesperson for Hanwha went so far as to say the bid would be submitted this week and expressed their confidence that Hanwha would not only be awarded the contract, but that the acquisition could be concluded by the end of this September.
A spokesperson for Q.Cells insolvency liquidator, Henning Schorisch explained that they could not comment on the investor process. They would only confirm that it is ongoing.
