The adjacent 30 MW and 20 MW schemes, already under construction and set to be completed in the first quarter of 2013, are being developed as part of the second batch of projects approved under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, which is targeting 20 GW of generation capacity by 2022.
First Solar will supply panels to generate 85,000 MWh per year enough to power 97,000 Indian households and mitigating 80,000 metric tons of CO2 annually.
The twin projects are being developed by Mumbai-based Kiran Energy and by Mahindra Solar One, a joint venture between Kiran and Mahindra.
First Solar is also building a 13 MW power plant in Seih Al Dahal, in Dubai.
