Clenera selects JinkoSolar for 35 MW Arizona project

Idaho-based clean energy finance and management firm Clenera has tapped JinkoSolar to supply PV modules for its 35 MW Avalon Solar Project in Arizona.

Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of the year on 500 acres (202 hectares) of land adjacent to the Mission Mine complex in Arizona’s Pima County, with completion due by year’s end.

The developers chose the site for its compliance with an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) program established with the objective of constructing renewable energy projects on abandoned land, including old mining sites.

Swinerton Renewable Energy will provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the installation, which will comprise 114,750 JinkoSolar 305W high-efficiency PV modules.

The PV array is expected to produce enough energy to power more than 7,000 homes. The power will be sold to Tucson Electric Power Company, helping to achieve the Arizona state mandate of 15% renewable energy generation by 2025.
