The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) has reported that total capacity of rooftop PV systems installed in the country under net metering has reached 121 MW, as of the end of September 2018.
At the end of June, total capacity stood at around 90 MW, while at the end of the previous quarter it was at 63 MW. This means that almost the half of total capacity was deployed in the latest two quarters alone, and that current quarterly growth trend is about 30 MW.
Overall, around 6,000 rooftop PV arrays were installed under the scheme at the end of the latest quarter, in which new additions totaled 1,371. This compares to 3,553 projects at the end of March and around just 200 new projects in the first quarter of 2017.
Total investments in this market segment, said SAEE, have reached a total of €120 million.
Ukraine’s net metering mechanism, which is open to PV installations with a capacity of up to 30 kW, was introduced under the law №514-VIII, which came into effect in April 2015.
Ukraine has reached an operational installed PV power capacity of 948 MW, as of the end of June 2018, according to the Head of the State Department of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, Sergij Savchuk.
