Duke Energy Renewables, an arm of Duke Energy, one of the largest electric power holding companies in the U.S. has acquired two solar power plants in California. The 20MW Seville I and the 30MW Seville II projects have been bought over from Kruger Energy. These two projects add on to Duke Energy Renewable's solar portfolio in California which already has four solar power projects. This brings it's PV total to more than 100MW.
The energy generated from Seville I and the associated renewable energy credits (RECs) will be sold to San Diego Gas & Electric through a 20-year agreement. Seville IIs generated energy will be sold to Imperial Irrigation District along with the associated RECs under a 25-year agreement.
Kruger Energy will see the project development to end and the plants are expected to come into operation by the end of this year.
