SolarWorld wins projects in South Africa

German solar company SolarWorld is celebrating two project wins in South Africa.

The Bonn-based vertically integrated company has landed projects with global tea brand Rooibos and with Ceres Fruitgrowers.

SolarWorld supplied 4,060 of its SW250 panels to Ceres Fruitgrowers, in the Ceres region, for installation on four north-facing roofs at the company's atmospherically controlled complexes.

The 1 MWp generated will mostly be consumed by the company's refrigeration compressor rooms during peak hours.

In the Cederberg region of the country, at Clanwilliam, SolarWorld is supplying 2,088 of its SolarWorld 245W modules for a storage facility owned by tea brand Rooibos.

The 875 MWh per year generated will cover 43% of the unit's energy costs with agri-food exporters to the EU and U.S. required to take steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in supply chains.
