Sungrow to unveil 99% efficiency inverters at Intersolar

Sungrow – the Chinese inverter manufacturer – will unveil a new series of inverters at this week’s Intersolar Europe Exhibition that the company claims are 99% efficient.

Sungrow’s new string inverters have a power rating between 20 kW and 80 kW, and have been developed by the company’s in-house R&D team to be suitable for commercial buildings as well as utility-scale installations.

The company’s central inverters have 500 kW power and container solutions up to 2.5 MW, and are shipped as a full turnkey solution that Sungrow says enables easier transportation and installation, thus lowering costs. The SG2500-MV central inverter is able to provide high power yield with 4 MPPT design.

Among the new string inverters is the SG20 KTL, the SG33/40 KTL-M and the SG80 KTL – each of which are upgrades on the SG60 KTL, which was introduced last year at 99% peak efficiency.

According to Sungrow’s CEO and founder Renxian Cao, this new range of inverters is a testament to the efforts made by the company to steer greater investment into R&D, which is an area of the business that now employs 30% of Sungrow’s workforce.

"With our scientific background and the reliable performance of our inverters we have won the trust of customers around the globe, and currently have approximately 12 GW of inverters installed worldwide," said the CEO, who added that Sungrow has a "firm determination" to explore Europe and other global markets.

"As the most important solar trade fair in Europe, Intersolar Europe is an excellent opportunity for us to further introduce our new products to trade visitors," Cao said.

In 2014, 20% of the company’s revenue was accrued in global markets despite these markets accounting for only 10% of all shipments. Higher product prices outside of China make internationalization an appealing strategy, and Sungrow recently entered into a partnership with Germany’s Conergy to collaborate on a number of European installations.
