France records 1 GW of new solar for Q2

Grid operator Enedis said last week that France installed 1,013 MW of new PV systems in the second quarter alone. If the current growth rate continues in the second half, the country could install record capacity in 2024.

France concludes C&I rooftop PV tender with average price of €0.1016/kWh

The French authorities have concluded a commercial and industrial (C&I) rooftop PV tender with an average price of €0.1016 ($0.11)/kWh. The government allocated 179.9 MW of PV capacity in total.

New agrivoltaics data shows improved grass, forage production under solar panels

The National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) is carrying out two agrivoltaics research projects on solar parks operated by BayWa r.e. and Valorem in several regions of France. Despite the different climatic conditions, similar positive trends were observed with a drop in temperature and an increase in soil humidity under the solar panels, as well as a better quality of forage that made it more digestible for animals.

France’s first offshore solar park in Mediterranean secures €6 million in public funding

The 1 MWp pre-commercial demonstrator from the French company SolarinBlue will be deployed off the coast of Sète, 2 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast, and will supply the infrastructure of the port of Sète-Frontignan. The floats are designed to withstand waves of more than 10 meters and winds of 200 km/h.

SNCF Energie, Neoen tie up on 172 GWh of annual solar capacity

SNCF Energie, a unit of French railway group SNCF, has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Neoen for 172 GWh of annual solar power. The deal supports financing for a new 139 MWp solar park set to start operations in 2028, alongside 150 hectares of land for sheep farming.
