Amea Power has connected the Zina solar plant to the grid in Burkina Faso, to power the Mana gold mine in Mouhoun province.

Namibia kicks off tender for 70 MW solar plant

Namibian utility NamPower is seeking an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor to build a solar farm in Rosh Pinah, a southern mining town. The project was originally designed for wind power generation.

Angola secures $1.44 billion to power rural areas with solar

The Angolan Ministry of Finance has secured €1.29 billion ($1.44 billion) from Standard Chartered to finance the construction of 48 hybrid PV systems across the provinces of Moxico, Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul, Bie, and Malanje. The new solar infrastructure will provide sustainable electricity to 1 million people.

Botswana set to host 30 MW of solar with LCOE of $0.08-0.10/kWh

Work begins on 50 MW solar park in Malawi

The Bwengu Solar PV Power Plant will spread over 105 hectares of land and is expected to be built at a cost of $65 million within 12 months. The facility will be located in Ulalo Nyirenda village, which is just 1 km from the Bwengu Escome Substation power grid. 

Botswana issues tender for six PV power plants

The tendered solar PV plants are expected to help the Sub-Saharan country reduce its dependence on electricity imports from South Africa.

RTI International seeks developers for three solar mini grids in Uganda

The U.S.-based non-profit organization is supporting the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the development of the three mini grids. The incentives for the projects will be provided in the form of grants.
