A site origination exercise and load analysis by Cornell University suggests 9 GW of solar will reduce peak demand in New York by nearly 10%. However it also found solar needs better capacity valuations to make for a stronger market, and will drive a winter time duck curve during a season of lower electric demand.

Zodiac Aerospace Equipo de Mexico has agreed to buy solar power from a 13 MW slice of the 80 MW Los Santos Solar II project in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.

The Dutch parliament has approved a motion made by the governing coalition to restrict construction of large scale solar plants on agricultural land but has watered down its provisions. Under the legislation, solar parks will only be permitted on agricultural land in areas where no smaller alternative projects are viable.
