DuPont, Heraeus settle patent dispute

Share

DuPont and Heraeus said on Tuesday that they had settled all pending lawsuits between the two companies regarding photovoltaic paste

Neither DuPont nor Heraeus has made any admission of liability with respect to the various lawsuits, although Heraeus remains licensed under the patents at issue in the suits. Other terms of the settlement between the companies remain confidential.

DuPont filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Heraeus in June 2012 alleging that Heraeus had infringed on the DuPont patent relating to front-side sliver pastes.

Heraeus, an affiliate of Heraeus Group, the precious metals and technology group headquartered in Hanau, Germany, hit back the following September with counter claims of its own and denied that it had infringed any claims of the patent (U.S. Patent 8,158,504). Heraeus further asserted that the patent in question was invalid and asked the judge in the case to rule the patent invalid.

In view of Tuesday's announcement of a settlement, the two companies appear to have found common ground on the matter.
