Although Colombia added 13 new solar farms in the first quarter of 2025, national grid operator XM Compañía de Expertos warns that transmission infrastructure delays threaten the deployment of projected solar capacity.
According to the latest monthly report for May, issued by CAMMESA, solar power reached 1,933 MW, representing 4.4% of the total. A total of 46 MW was commissioned in the month in question.
Mature markets Brazil and Chile will account for 78% of total installations, with small-scale projects (<5 MW) accounting for 48% of total builds in the region, according to Wood Mackenzie.
