The PV facility will have a capacity of 7.7MW and will rely on 19,000 of the latest generation solar modules from the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM).
This year, more than 18,000 photovoltaic systems, totaling around 360 MW, have already been registered for the one-off payment. The rebate covers around 20% of the investment costs, depending on the system performance.
All segments grew strongly and, overall, the newly installed capacity increased by almost 50% compared to 2019. Photovoltaics was able to cover 4.7% of Switzerland’s electricity needs last year.
The 2.2 MW vertical solar plant, built on a dam wall at an altitude of almost 2,500 meters above the sea level, is expected to be commissioned within four months.
The Swiss federal government has also decided to improve the bureaucratic procedures for the installation of solar PV systems.
The Swiss energy group takes on the operation of a 1.25 MW battery storage system owned by Rhiinenergie AG. The storage facility will provide grid balancing services for the country’s grid operator.
According to Switzerland-based trade body Swissolar, the country saw the deployment of over 430 MW of new solar PV systems last year.
Swiss energy company Axpo will supply electricity to a supermarket chain from a 2.2 MW solar plant under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The facility is being deployed at the Muttsee dam, at an altitude of almost 2,500 meters above sea level.
The rebate for small-sized rooftop PV projects was raised from CHF340 (€314) to CHF380 per kilowatt installed.
Applications for solar rebates have almost doubled thus far this year, said Swissolar, which sees year-on-year growth in all rooftop PV segments.
