The CDU (Christian Democratic Union), sister party CSU (Christian Social Union) and FDP (Free Democratic Party) veer towards a ‘flexible ceiling' for photovoltaics. Additionally, the power to issue statutory instruments with regards to the market integration model will also be deleted.
The FDP political speaker for the environment Michael Kauch has stated that a ‘flexible ceiling' will be imposed again for photovoltaics. This is a landmark decision but exact numbers remain unclear. Furthermore it also remains unclear if there will be a monthly reduction in FITs from May as the government had previously planned.
Kauch also added that the Union and FDP have also agreed to cancel the power to issue statutory instruments with regards to the market integration model, meaning Philipp Rösler (FDP) and Norbert Rösler (CDU) will not be given the power to be able to change the percentage of solar power remuneration in the short term without parliamentary consent.
