The U.S.-based photovoltaic manufacturer has signed an agreement with Kiran Energy Solar Power Pvt. Ltd and Mahindra Solar One Pvt. Ltd to deliver over 585,000 modules to the two adjacent projects. Construction is slated to begin this year, and should be completed by Q1 2013.
The projects have been commissioned under the second batch of Indias Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (NSM). They are expected to generate enough energy to supply more than 97,000 average Indian households.
Commenting, Pramoda Karkal, Kiran Energy COO said, "This is a very exciting project for us, especially so because Kiran Energy, as well as our joint venture, Mahindra Solar One, will own the largest solar power plant aggregation in a single location in India."
Overall, India has an installed solar capacity of around 1.04 GW, of which 830 MW were installed this year. According to Mercom Capital Group, under Batch II of the NSM, PPAs worth 340 MW have been signed and the projects have achieved financial closure. They are due to be commissioned next March.
