EC confirms solar glass anti-subsidy investigation

Share

Just two months after a petition was filed against solar glass imports from China by EU ProSun Glass, the EC has officially launched an anti-subsidy investigation.

On April 27, it announced that while the investigation could take a total of 13 months to complete, provisional anti-subsidy duties could be imposed within nine months. This was after it determined that "sufficient prima facie evidence", including possible subsidies benefitting Chinese solar glass exporters and injury suffered by the EU industry, was submitted.

On February 28, the EC initiated anti-dumping proceedings against Chinese solar glass manufacturers.

In a statement released on Saturday, the EC underlined that the investigation is separate to the anti-dumping investigation launched last September at the behest of EU ProSun. It added that the European solar glass market is worth less than €200 million.
