JinkoSolar, one of the world’s largest solar PV companies, announced today that it had agreed a strategic deal with the Electromechanical Industrial Park to develop a 120 MW PV plant on 1.2 million square meters of land.

The plant will be located in the Zhenjiang New Area of Jiangsu Province, China, with JinkoSolar responsible for all EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services, project declaration, operation and maintenance.

The plant is being designed for commercial and residential rooftop installations in the region, and once completed will enable the rooftop’s owners to generate and consume their own energy, with all excess power created sold to the state grid based on localized on-grid power tariffs.

"The strategic agreement signed with the local authority in Electromechanical Industrial Park, Zhenjiang New Area will aid the development of medium- and small-sized distributed PV power plants in areas and residential communities of eastern China, and is in line with the Chinese government’s policies to develop distributed energy," said JinkoSolar’s chairman, Xiande Li. "With JinkoSolar’s renewable energy solutions, sustainable and stable clean energy sources will be provided to the properties in the area.

"We are glad to promote the development of distributed energy in China with the local authority in Electromechanical Industrial Park, Zhenjiang New Area, and at the same time demonstrate the important role renewable energy technology plays in boosting the sustainable development of local economy and environmental conditions."

Jianmin Xia, Electromechanical Industrial Park’s head of the management office, added: "As a national economic technological development zone, Zhenjiang New Area has been complying with the Chinese government's policies on energy savings and emissions reduction. We hope to use stable, reliable and clean energy to provide power for the whole area.

"JinkoSolar is a highly recognized and respected company that has a large share of the domestic and overseas market. Its outstanding technologies and advanced environmentally friendly philosophy make JinkoSolar the ideal choice."
