Credit Suisse to launch €500 million green bond issue to back US solar projects

Share

Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse is launching a €500 million green bond issue on the Swiss Stock Exchange to refinance the construction and operation of solar projects in the United States.

This news was first reported by Argentine publication El Cronista (in Spanish), and has been confirmed by Credit Suisse. The bank has not revealed the exact date of the bond issuance, but pricing will be announced some time today, April 4.

If the first issuance is positive, Credit Suisse plans to issue other green bonds in other currencies during 2018, including a follow-on in Swiss francs during the second quarter of 2018.

The financial company has also published a regulatory framework for green bonds, aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals, which states how the bonds will be used and who will manage the income.
