Suntech announces panel supply deal for Australia projects

Chinese PV panel manufacturer Wuxi Suntech has announced a deal to supply more than 275,000 modules to Greek developer Biosar, for use in two unnamed ground mount projects in Australia.

Although the two companies have collaborated in the past, the deal marks the first time they have joined forces in the promising Australian market.

A Suntech press release announcing the agreement specified it would deliver the shipment of its 1,500 V polycrystalline modules by August, and that the panels would be mounted on NEXTracker single axis trackers.

It was not stated which projects the panels will be for, with Suntech only specifying both schemes are under construction.

Athens-headquartered Biosar's website lists three projects in Queensland as works in progress: the 70 MWp Oakey II, owned by Canadian Solar; the 95.5 MWp Susan River PV park, owned by Susan River Solar; and the 75 MWp Childers project, owned by Childers Solar.

Suntech says its association with Biosar dates back to 2009 and the two companies have overseen more than 260 MW of PV projects in Europe.

The former world number one panel manufacturer says it is in negotiations with the Greek developer with a view to supplying further projects in Australia.
