Chinese PV Industry Brief: Solar module exports hit 54.9 GW in Q3
China’s solar module exports fell to 16.53 GW in September, down 12% from August and 16% year on year, according to PV InfoLink. Third-quarter exports reached 54.9 GW, a 15% drop from the second quarter, but a 6% increase from the third quarter of 2023.
Austria deploys 1.4 GW of new solar in January-September period
Austria installed 1.4 GW of new PV capacity from January to September 2024, including around 400 MW added in the third quarter alone.
Singapore on track to hit 2030 solar targets
Research from the National University of Singapore indicates that Singapore could reach its 2 GW solar installation target by 2028, ahead of its 2030 deadline. The study suggests that the government could increase its long-term solar goals by adopting policies that promote better area utilization, subsidies, and advancements in panel efficiency.

High pressure over Eastern Europe traps rain and cloud in the West
In a new weekly update for pv magazine, Solcast, a DNV company, reports that blocking high pressure over Eastern Europe in October created a strong east-west divide in solar irradiance across the continent. This led to notably lower irradiance due to persistent cloud cover and rainfall, especially across the Iberian Peninsula and northern Italy.
SolarEdge posts $1.21 billion net loss in Q3
SolarEdge reported $260.9 million in revenue for the third quarter of 2024, down from $725.3 million in the same quarter last year. The Israeli manufacturer also posted an operating loss of more than $1 billion, with 850 MW of inverters and 189 MWh of batteries shipped for PV applications.
Tender opens for 17 solar systems in Mozambique
