Tigo introduces power electronics supporting solar modules up to 800 W

The new MLPE from Tigo is designed to support commercial and industrial as well as utility-scale solar projects.

Real-world case study and solar business growth outcomes from predictive analytics

In this pv magazine Webinar we’ll explore the reality of AI and automation, and its outcomes on the solar industry from more than 5GW of C&I and utility solar under management. Our webinar partner, SmartHelio, a solar software company, will showcase their predictive analytics method, illustrating tangible improvements in PV performance, operational efficiency, and business growth through a client case study.

Research shows high-albedo ground reflectors increase bifacial solar plant yield by up to 4.5%

Tests conducted by Canadian researchers at the NREL’s testing field in Colorado have shown that ground reflectors based on high-density polyethylene can significantly increase bifacial PV plant performance. They stressed the profitability of this technology is strictly dependent on the location and warned avoiding to combine it with inverter clipping.

Passive solar tracker wind stowing boosts energy production

Solar panels are often tilted to a stowed position to prevent wind damage to utility-scale assets. Array Technologies introduced a passive stowing strategy that reportedly prevents unnecessary production losses.

The Hydrogen Stream: US government targets $2/kg by 2026, $1/kg by 2031

The US Department of Energy says it is aiming for “clean” hydrogen production costs of $2/kg by 2026 and $1/kg by 2031.

Automation for site prospecting, design & engineering of utility-scale solar PV plants

We will showcase trustworthy data sets and an optimized methodology for studying, planning, and designing PV plants to enhance project development with digital transformation solutions.

NREL interactive chart of solar cell efficiency now including ‘hybrid tandems’

The new cell category includes perovskite/silicon, perovskite/CIGS, III-V/silicon and perovskite/organic tandem PV devices. It will list the absolute record efficiency for all-perovskite, two-terminal tandems regardless of the number of junctions.

Climate change to drive value of rooftop solar

University of Michigan researchers have found that the value of rooftop solar will increase by between 5% and 15% by the mid-century across a range of US cities under moderate climate change, and by up to 20% by the end of the century.
