PV Hardware offers new terrain-following tracker solution

The Spain-based manufacturer announced terrain-conforming tracker support, enabling up to 2° of variation between posts. The new solution is meant to enable solar PV on more difficult sites without increasing environmental impact or construction costs.

SolarStratos reaches 8,224 m height

Swiss pilot Raphaël Domjan flew the SolarStratos solar-powered aircraft to 8,224 meters on Aug. 10, setting a personal record but falling short of the 9,235-meter world mark held by Solar Impulse.

Netherlands allocates €700 million to large-scale hydrogen projects

The Netherlands has awarded €700 million ($820.5 million) to 11 companies in its second subsidy round, supporting large-scale hydrogen projects with a combined electrolyzer capacity of about 602 MW.

Expansion of PV for self-consumption reduces grid load

Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Engineering and Image Evaluation – Applied System Technology (IOSB-AST) says Germany’s grid load is falling as more PV output is consumed on-site, but notes rising electrification in other sectors could reverse the trend.

Winaico enters back-contact segment with 480 W solar module

The Taiwanese manufacturer has announced its WST-480BDX54-B2 Ultra Black Glass-Glass for the European market. It features an efficiency of 23.5%.

Indoor perovskite solar cell built with triple passivation strategy achieves 37.6% efficiency

An international research team has constructed an indoor perovksite PV device by using a triple passivation treatment to reduce crystal defects in the perovskite film. The cell achieved remarkable efficiency and was also able to retain 92% of its initial performance after 3,200 h.

Sunsave raises GBP 113M, targets full EMS offer for UK consumers

Equity and debt facility provides Sunsave resources to increase deployment and develop home energy management system (EMS) according to co-founder Ben Graves. The start up offers solar on a subscription basis with customers owning the installation on their property from the offset.

Ireland to meet 2030 target of 8 GW solar, claims Wood MacKenzie

Wood MacKenzie predicts that Ireland will meet its 8 GW 2030 solar target but wind, heat pumps, and electric vehicles (EVs) are all lagging behind theirs. Ireland’s current installed solar capacity is just under 2 GW, but this could be increased thanks to favorable policy, grid investments, and energy storage.

Swedish heat pump maker Aira raises €150 million, plans production capacity expansion

Aira is raising €150 million in equity financing to support increased production capacity in Wroclaw, Poland, as well as further research and development in Sweden.

The Hydrogen Stream: EIA sees mostly gray hydrogen in US by 2050

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) says US hydrogen production will increase about 80% by 2050, mainly from natural gas with minimal electrolyzer use, while key industry players advance large-scale green hydrogen projects and expand hydrogen vehicle support across global markets.
