Sodium-ion battery fleet to grow to 10 GWh by 2025

Global demand for sodium-ion batteries is expected to grow to just under 70 GWh in 2033, from 10 GWh in 2025, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 27%, according to UK-based market research company IDTechEx.

Calcium metal battery capable of more than 500 cycles

Researchers at Tohoku University in Japan have developed a prototype calcium battery with a long cycle life of more than 500 charge-discharge cycles. The battery was developed using a hydride-based electrolyte and copper sulfide nanoparticle/carbon composite cathode.

India’s annual EV sales surpassed 1.2 million units in fiscal 2023

The Indian state of Uttar Pradesh led yearly electric vehicle sales with a 15.15% share of the cumulative 1.2 million units sold in fiscal 2022-23. It was followed by Maharashtra with a 12.72% share and Karnataka at 9.14%.
