REC Group inks exclusive residential supply deal with Tucson Electric

REC Group has signed an exclusive agreement with Tucson Electric Power (TEP) to supply solar panels for the Arizona utility's TEP Residential Solar Program.

The deal marks the first time that the new REC TwinPeak Series product line has been selected for a major rooftop project.

REC will begin shipping 3.5 MW of its panels to TEP in May, with deliveries scheduled to conclude in October.

As part of TEP’s leasing program, the utility will cover the costs of rootop solar systems for customers and sell electricity to homeowners for a flat monthly rate that will remain fixed for up to 25 years. Contractors selected by TEP will install and maintain the PV arrays.

Arndt E. Lutz, REC senior vice president and managing director of the company’s North American business, said the deal represented "a strong vote of confidence in our products and our business approach,” adding that the company’s new high-performance panels were “well suited for Tucson’s high-desert climate."

REC’s latest deal follows a string of panel supply agreements and installations in the U.S. market. In the past 10 months, the company has closed more than 706 MW of supply deals for the residential, commercial and utility segments in the country.
