Taking place at Eurexpo in Lyon on February 13-15, the BePositive 2019 show is dedicated to the energy transition, with some 550 exhibitors and brands and an expected 30,000 professional visitors expected.
The organizers say solar PV is at the core of this year’s event. Buoyed by a market enjoying dynamic worldwide growth, the PV sector will occupy a bigger space at the event than in previous years.
Aside from stronger PV industry representation, the organizers of BePositive believe the event will grow by 40% compared to 2017, attracting more solar panel manufacturers and inverter suppliers. The show will be attended by professionals from across the sector, ranging from manufacturers to developers, installers, engineering offices and others.
Thematically, the exhibition will feature solutions from across the industry, including panels, inverters, structures, fastening systems, energy storage, self-consumption, energy control, distribution grids and their management, electric vehicles, charging stations, fuel cells and more.
The BePositive awards will recognize the most appealing innovations among the new products and services on show.

A gathering of new energy players
There will be panel discussions, symposia, conferences and presentations tackling the more contentious topics of the energy transition. Issues to be discussed include smart grids, floating PV, electric vehicles and project financing.
Among the panel members will be representatives from: the Energies Renouvelables syndicate’s National Photovoltaics Symposium; the Consumption at Source and Storage conference, organized by INES; and the EURAFRIC Forum, held by west and central African business development agency ADEA; plus two TV stages will feature topical debates on new energy, buildings and regional markets.

The buzz has been building for a couple of years now. A tease of a new product, more efficient yet cheaper to produce solar PV panels and the addition of energy storage as an “adder” or part of each solar PV project installed. Perhaps questions will be answered as to whether a “new” electrolyte from a company called Tydrolyte which is supposed to be a direct replacement for lead/acid batteries that is less toxic and takes care of some of the issues with lead/acid battery performance. (IF) true, it could bring back the lead/acid battery for residential energy storage while taking the effective battery pack life to the 15 to 20 year useful storage life. GS batteries is claiming a 15 year carbon foam lead/acid architecture, it has been advertised at around 23,000USD for a 48kWh storage pack. (IF) Tydrolyte was used in the GS battery pack, would round trip efficiency as well as temperature operating range allow a higher storage rate of charge and discharge? For personal solar PV storage you could put online 48kWh of energy storage for half the cost of an equivalent Lithium Ion battery pack.
