Renewables to drive economic growth in SE Asia — IRENA

The 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are on track to make solar and other renewables account for 23% of the region’s total primary energy supply (TPES) by 2025, but governments will need to create better policy and investment frameworks to make it happen, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

Malaysia’s PA Resources secures $154m First Solar supply contract

Pöyry wins contract for 29 MW Malaysian PV project

International consulting and engineering company, Pöyry Plc. has been awarded a contract for a 29 MW solar PV project in Malaysia, by Leader Solar Energy Sdn Bhd.

Tenaga wins contract to build 30 MW Malaysian solar farm

The large-scale PV project will be built in Malaysia’s Kedah state in the northwest of the country. Tenaga Nasional Berhad was awarded the development rights following a competitive bidding process overseen by the Energy Commission.

MBSB to finance 50 MW in Malaysia

Malaysia Building Society Berhad (MBSB) has agreed to provide up to 247 million ringgit (US$60.4 million) of Islamic financing to Solar Management (Seremban) Sdn Bhd to back the development of a 50 MW solar project in Peninsular Malaysia.

With over 220,000 solar modules installed on 110 hectares of land, the project is expected to be switched on by the end of 2018.

Mudajaya to finance 49 MW in Malaysia with Islamic bonds

Mudajaya, a Malaysian engineering and construction group, aims to raise up to 245 million ringgit ($58.7 million) by issuing sukuk Islamic bonds. It will use the proceeds to finance the construction of 49 MW of solar capacity in northern Peninsular Malaysia.

Comtec, Sunway to collaborate on PV storage applications
