BIPV modules

Japanese startup debuts silver-colored BIPV solar module

The new product weighs 13 kg/m2 and is claimed to be particularly suitable for building facades. It features a power ouput of 75 W and a junction box with an IP-68 rating.

Fraunhofer researchers develop decorative films for BIPV

Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technology (FEP) researchers are using roll-to-roll nanoimprint lithography to produce visually seamless building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) modules.

Brazilian manufacturer unveils 1 kg BIPV module

Eternit S.A., a Brazilian construction materials supplier, says it has developed a 50 W panel for building-integrated PV (BIPV) applications. The 1 kg module features monocrystalline passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) tech.

Swiss 3S introduces new half-cell BIPV modules

Swiss 3S, the Switzerland-based manufacturer, is offering the new half-cell BIPV module in four sizes, ranging from 24 half-cells to 48 half-cells. The rated output is up to 225 W.

Photovoltaic signboard with 18.5% efficiency

Dansk Solenergi, a Danish building-integrated PV specialist, has launched a round, 95 W solar module that works as a PV signboard. Its 35 solar cells, which remain hidden behind an image of Earth, have an efficiency of 18.5%.

BIPV solar facade on high-rise building to produce 58 MWh annually

The 25-meter building facade building with 120 solar modules uses SolarEdge optimizers to overcome shading from neighboring buildings.

BIPV modules from Estonia

Estonian start-up Roofit.solar recently raised €6.4 million from a group of investors led by Germany’s Baywa r.e. The company will use the funds to commercialize its three BIPV modules with power outputs of 110 to 160 W. All products rely on a 0.5 mm metal back sheet with highly durable pural coating.

Fraunhofer ISE develops technique to produce glowing colored solar modules

The German research institute has proposed a technique based on the surface structure of the wings of the morpho butterfly to produce colored BIPV panels for facades and rooftops. The process is claimed to make it possible to color the modules with an optical effect and not with color pigments, which reduce their efficiency.
