Hungary approves measures for solar on apartment buildings

Hungary has decided to allow apartment owners to jointly install solar panels and will only permit solar plants equipped with grid-connected inverters from July 2025.

Maltese scientists design offshore virtual power plant integrating PV, wind, storage

The proposed virtual power plant (VPP) integrates a platform-to-ship (P2S) setup to electrify anchored and bunkering ships, while also providing surplus electricity to the country’s grid. The system was designed to operate through a 200 MW floating wind farm and a 300 MW floating PV plant, with battery and compressed air systmes being used for energy storage.

ArcelorMittal Nippon moves forward with portion of 975 MW solar project

Oriano has commissioned a 211.2 MW solar project in India, as part of ArcelorMittal Nippon Group’s 975 MW hybrid renewable energy plan to decarbonize its Hazira plant.

Sekisui Chemical launches pilot perovskite PV projects in Japan

Japanese plastics manufacturer Sekisui Chemical, which recently invested in a 100 MW perovskite solar production plant, announced its latest demonstration project at two sites owned by Japan’s MUFG Bank. The project aims to both raise awareness of practical applications of perovskite solar PV technology and to further verify durability, weather resistance, and performance.

The best hole transport layers for perovskite solar cells

An international team has combined organic synthesis with predictive models to discover new functional materials that enhance performance of hole transport layers used in perovskite solar cells. The team asserts that optimizing for other solar cell properties is possible with the platform, as well as using it for development of materials for other kinds of devices.

Australian startup offers retractable PV sytem with containerized vanadium redox flow battery

A Western Australia-based hybrid solar and battery system developer has demonstrated its hybrid units deployed in remote locations for businesses and communities can potentially replace around 150 litres of diesel per day.
