All-perovskite PV-powered battery for portable electronics

Scientists have used a dual-functional, material-sharing strategy with ethyl viologen diiodide to achieve synergistic performance enhancement in PV-powered batteries. The system was reportedly able to power a wearable glucose monitor for 24 hours.

How to measure solar cell vibrations in vehicle-integrated photovoltaics

Researchers at the University of Miyazaki in Japan used a new non-destructive method to enable them to investigate solar cell vibrations independently of module components. The study included potential design features for resonance-resistant vehicle integrated PV modules that would increase the natural resonance frequency to above 2,000 Hz.

Euronergy launches new lightweight PV module series

The Dutch company said the new products have a power output ranging from 410 W to 430 W in power and an efficiency of up to 22.2%. The panels reportedly weigh 30% less than conventional counterparts.

ESMC calls for solar extension to carbon border adjustment mechanism

The European Solar Manufacturing Council (ESMC) is encouraging the European Commission to include solar modules, mounting systems and solar trackers in the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM). It says the extension would support Europe’s solar market as Chinese manufacturers that export finished solar products to the EU are currently exempt from costs imposed under the policy.

Renshine Solar hits 27.5% efficiency for flexible all-perovskite solar cell

Renshine Solar says it has achieved a record 27.5% efficiency for a flexible all-perovskite cell and 23.0% on a 20.26 cm² panel.

Panasonic expands air-to-water heat pump factory in Czechia

Production has begun at an expanded air-to-water heat pump facility belonging to Panasonic Heating & Ventilation Air-Conditioning Czech, s.r.o.. The company says the site will respond to growing demand in the European market.

New model for LeTID prediction in gallium doped silicon wafers

Researchers at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Germany developed a predictive model for light and elevated temperature induced degradation in gallium-doped silicon wafer that includes the effects of temporary recovery.

Mission Solar to debut new PV modules at RE+ 2025 in Las Vegas

Mission Solar will showcase new residential and commercial PV modules at the RE+ trade show in Las Vegas, including a 435 W N-type panel designed for rooftop projects.

Using drones, satellite and ground data to map vegetation in PV plants

Scientists have developed a multi-scale method to assess vegetation conditions inside PV power plants. The research focused on nine PV plants in China across diverse climate zones. Compared to satellite estimates alone, the method reduces bias by 16.98%.

Solar Organic to build PV, battery factory in Spain

Solar Organic Centro España S.L. plans a solar panel and battery factory in south-central Spain with 10 GW of annual capacity for passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) and tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) modules.
