Malaysia increases green energy tariff for residential, industrial consumers

Malaysia has increased the green energy tariff for residential and industrial consumers through the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) program. The government is offering 4,500 GWh of power to residential and industrial customers each year. These customers will be charged an additional MYR 0.281 ($0.062) for each kilowatt-hour of renewable energy that is purchased.

TOPCon PV modules outperform PERC by more than 5% in energy yield tests

A study by TÜV Nord in Malaysia shows that the latest generation of tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) modules surpass their older rivals on energy yield. The researchers compared n-type TOPCon modules with older p-type PERC modules, both manufactured by JinkoSolar over a three-month period earlier this year. The newer product showed an energy yield 5.69% higher than its PERC counterpart.

India deploying 8.5 GW of PV under solar parks program

Indian developers have completed 11 solar parks, aggregating to 8.521 GW, and have partially completed seven solar parks, totaling 3.985 GW, under the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s scheme for the development of solar parks.

India installed 6.8 GW of solar in H1

India deployed 6.8 GW of solar in the first half of 2023. The rooftop solar segment had 2,294 MW of capacity additions, which is higher than the total rooftop PV installations recorded in 2022.

The Hydrogen Stream: Gasunie reports strong interest in salt cavern H2 storage

Dutch gas supplier Gasunie says several market participants have reserved capacity in the first salt cavern for large-scale hydrogen storage near the Dutch city of Groningen. According to current planning, the first cavern will be operational by 2028.
