Australian startup aims to produce hydrogen with 30% less electricity

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s national science agency, has teamed up with RFC Ambrian to form a new company to commercialize electrolysis tech. CSIRO said the aim is to produce hydrogen with 30% less electricity than existing alkaline and polymer electrolyte membrane technologies.

Preheating hydrogen with heat pumps may reduce cost of green H2 for heating by 10%

UK researchers suggested utilizing heat pumps to preheat hydrogen to very high temperatures, which they said could reduce the need for hydrogen by more than 20%. The process is also claimed to have the potential to reduce the European industry’s energy demand by approximately 200 TWh per year.

JSW Energy says it plans to set up a green hydrogen plant with an annual capacity of 3,800 tons to supply steel to JSW Steel, driven by 25 MW of renewable energy.

Japanese real estate firm starts residential solar hydrogen project

Sekisui House-W is testing a pilot project consisting of a residential PV system, a small-sized electrolyzer, hydrogen-absorbing alloy tanks, and a fuel cell. The company said the hydrogen storage alloys used in the project have higher energy density than battery storage.

Australian developer plans 900 MW of solar for green hydrogen project

Traditional owners in Western Australia will partner with advisory firm Pollination to develop what could be Australia’s largest solar farm. The move is part of plans to build a gigawatt-scale green hydrogen and ammonia project in the northwestern part of the country.
