Mondragon Assembly supplies agrivoltaics production line in Greece

Mondragon Assembly says it is supplying Greece’s first manufacturing line for agrivoltaics. The production line has a capacity of 150 MW, with plans to upgrade to 300 MW, and is tailored for semi-transparent solar modules.

‘Addressing the gender gap requires a bottom-up approach, beginning with recognition and regulation’

This week, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu) gives voice to Giorgia Epicoco, Senior EU Affairs Manager | Sustainability Lead at Huawei. She believes that the renewable energy sector is now poised to welcome a growing number of talented female professionals in technical, sales, marketing, operations, logistics, and public affairs roles. “However, reaching top-level positions isn’t feasible for everyone, and this is where skills development becomes crucial,” she warned.

ISC Konstanz claims 24.12% certified efficiency for tunnel back contact solar cell

The result was confirmed by Germany’s Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH). The cell also achieved an open-circuit voltage of 709.5 mV, a short circuit density of 11,355 mA, and a fill factor of 82.04%.

Western Europe cloudy while East sees solar gains in May

In a new weekly update for pv magazine, Solcast, a DNV company, reports that, thanks to warm temperatures and relatively sunny skies, Finland and Sweden had irradiance up to 30%, which unusually resulted in higher total irradiance than the more southerly UK and France. On the other side of the Baltic Sea, Poland, the Baltic States, and neighbouring countries also experienced irradiance up to 30% above the long-term average.

India’s GUVNL allocates 500 MW hybrid wind-solar at $0.040/kWh

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has awarded 500 MW of hybrid solar-wind projects at an average rate of INR 3.36 ($0.040)/kWh. The winning developers will install grid-connected projects on a build-own-operate basis, with the freedom to choose any location in India.

Guyana opens tender for supply of solar equipment, installations

The Guyana Energy Agency has started accepting bids for the supply of solar equipment and solar installations across 21 public and community buildings. The deadline for applications is June 18.

New research identifies advantages of thermoplastic polyolefin encapsulants in dual-glass solar modules

Austrian researchers performed tests on thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) encapsulant as an alternative to conventional ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer and polyolefin elastomers (POE) to assess its use in glass-glass modules. They report that all of the TPO specimens outperformed EVA and POE, especially TPO-3.5 encasulants.
