pv magazine Week Europe 2025

Program 2025

How can market players in solar and storage make projects work — and stay competitive — in today’s evolving landscape? This requires making the best use of technologies, business models, and concepts, as pressure on the electricity sector increases to deliver clean and reliable power even more cost-effectively.

At pv magazine Week Europe 2025, from December 1–4, leading experts will address the most relevant questions on energy markets, the effective use of flexibility, bankability, technical reliability, operations, and the latest developments in solar and storage technologies.

Moderated by pv magazine, this live broadcast-virtual conference brings together industry leading experts and innovators to discuss the latest and most pressing issues in the solar and storage sector in Europe.

Agenda

DAY 1 – MONDAY, DECEMBER 1

We begin the week by zooming out to the big picture: Europe’s energy system is under pressure as renewables expand rapidly, bringing both challenges and opportunities. DAY 1 will explore how flexibility, storage, and updated market design can secure reliability while keeping solar growth viable.

Session 1 | 3 pm – 4:30 pm CET | From cannibalization to flexibility: Rethinking Europe’s energy system

In this session we’ll focus on solutions to the challenge of overcrowded grids, and how solar can continue to grow its share of the energy mix. Increasing electrification in various sectors, deploying more batteries, and enabling new business models to provide.

DAY 2 – TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2

On Day 2, we move into the nuts and bolts of project execution. The morning session will turn attention to technology in operations and maintenance — from predictive analytics to cybersecurity — highlighting both the efficiencies and the threats digitalization brings. In the afternoon, we will unpack what truly makes a PV project bankable, from procurement choices to risk mitigation.

Session 2 | 11 am – 12:30 pm CET | Leveraging technology to safeguard and streamline solar operations

This session will explore the tangible benefits technology offers solar asset owners looking to streamline their O&M processes – such as web-based continuous monitoring, AI integration, predictive maintenance, and automation. We will also discuss technology as a potential threat, delving into the urgent topic of cybersecurity for solar asset owners and how they can use technology of their own to safeguard their business from external threats. Our panel of experts will talk us through best practices for integrating technology, as well as some of the potential issues to be aware of around regulation, security, data quality, and system failures.

Session 3 | 3 pm – 4:30 pm CET | PV project bankability: Exploring quality and technical risk

In this session, we’ll address some of the biggest quality issues facing the PV sector in conversation with leading experts from across the industry. Equipment suppliers and third-party auditors will share their views on how to deliver quality, bankable European PV installations. We’ll also examine the role of EPCs in ensuring quality, the questions developers should be asking, and the impact key decisions can have on asset owners.

DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3

Day 3 is dedicated to PV module and cell innovation. Experts will share updates on mainstream technologies such as TOPCon, alongside new concepts pushing the limits of efficiency and cost reduction. The afternoon looks at application-specific designs and asks whether these tailored solutions represent lasting innovation or simply competitive pressure in a crowded market.

Session 4 | 11 am – 12:30 pm CET | Cell and module technology update: TOPCon and beyond

This session will focus on the next steps for PV technology. We’ll examine the promise of back-contact cell designs as a route to the practical limits of single-junction silicon cell efficiency. And we’ll take in the market introduction of perovskite and tandem cell products, asking whether this technology is really ready to perform at scale — and the new questions this will raise for manufacturers, quality assurance providers, and the PV research and development community.

Session 5 | 3 pm – 4:30 pm CET | Module quality and risk – ensuring reliability in a rapidly expanding market

Whether it’s glass breakage, weak frames, UVID- or PID-related degradation modes, or encapsulant failures – when something goes wrong with a module, an entire project can be at risk. That’s why quality assurance at the point of purchase and robust, verifiable production standards are essential safeguards for developers and investors alike.

DAY 4 – THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4

Finally, Day 4 brings storage to the forefront. The morning will dive into best practices for co-locating renewables with battery systems, from integration to performance optimization. In the afternoon, the focus turns to procurement: what buyers must consider when sourcing BESS in Europe, from warranties and regulations to financing and long-term reliability.

Session 6 | 11 am – 12:30 pm CET| What to consider when purchasing BESS for projects in Europe

Buying a BESS in 2025 is not trivial. Prices are changing fast, warranties differ drastically, and integration risks can make or break project economics. This session gives you the essential checklist to make procurement decisions with confidence.
