Asymmetrical 49-level cascaded inverter for PV applications

Researchers in Iraq have designed a multi-level cascaded inverter that can purportedly produce high-quality sinusoidal output voltage and current waveforms, while reduing harmonic distortion. It uses the so-called phase disposition level-shifted pulse width modulation (PDLSPWM) control technique to operate the switches in the circuit “effectively.”

GoodWe unveils hybrid inverters for large residential applications

GoodWe says its new EHB single-phase hybrid inverters suit larger residential energy storage applications with the series supporting 200% PV oversizing, allowing for systems up to 20 kW in size.

SMA releases 9.6 kW and 11.5 kW hybrid solar inverters

SMA America introduced two larger power classes to its Sunny Boy residential solar inverter line.

Dual-component controller for three-phase solar inverters can reduce overshoot to less than 0.33%

An international research team has conceived a dual-component controller for three-phase inverters that can reportedly achieve faster settling times, reduced overshoot and more stable current tracking compared to conventional controllers.

BYD launches its first integrated home storage system

The Chinese manufacturer said its Battery-Box HVE is now being sold with either a single-phase hybrid inverter or a three-phase device. The system is available in two versions with capacities of 4.29 kWh and 6.45 kWh.

New algorithm for fault detection in renewables microgrids

An Iraqi-Canadian research team has created a new algorithm that can detect direction change in the line current of renewables-based microgrids. The novel approach can be applied to both grid-forming and grid-following infrastructures.

Sinovoltaics provides update to PV inverter manufacturer ranking

The Hong Kong-based consulting firm’s latest financial stability ranking based on Altman-Z scores sees Hoymiles, Eaton, and APSystems (Yuneng Technology) in the top three positions.

Sungrow expanding activities in MENA region

Sungrow secured a 7.8 GWh battery storage deal from Saudi Arabia last year and is planning to strengthen its presence across the whole Middle East.

Reducing fuel consumption in shipping with wind-solar retrofits

A European consortium is applying wind-solar hybrid and tilting wing technology as modular refits of in-service long-distance cargo vessels in an effort to reduce fuel consumption.

HTW Berlin 2025 energy storage inspection: Kostal, SAX Power set new efficiency records

The evaluation confirmed the outstanding system efficiency of European inverter manufacturers, in particular. It also found large differences in efficiency of certain hybrid inverters from the maximum efficiency specifications provided by the manufacturers on the data sheets.
